FoxNews Impresses PittGirl!

I’m weary from my constant tracking of Katrina news coverage. These are the times it sucks to be a news junkie.

I flipped on FoxNews just now and they were airing their promo spot for their Katrina coverage.

It was some nice music with the word “faith” floating over a picture of two young men in New Orleans:

“Hope” over a picture of President Bush looking out the window of Airforce One (I know, I know. Please. Chill out. This is NOT a political blog.)

And the cool part?

The word “perseverance” over this picture:

Why is that cool? Because they understand that the kid was getting food to survive, and likely doing it for his family.

I don’t care which way FoxNews leans. I appreciate the fact that someone looks at this image and doesn’t think: “Looter!” “Hoodlum!” “Criminal!”

I also stumbled upon this.

See you Tuesday.

I would have to agree with you. I am pleasantly surprised that Fox News took that particular perspective versus that of one of a looter. Great observation (although, I still think one slipped by Fox. Not all news people are neocon automatons at Fox. Some news people there might actually have been naieve enoug to buy into the “fair and balanced” slogan. That was, admittedly, fair and balanced.

Errrrrr, how come the white people “found” food from a store, but the black child who did the same thing was labelled a looter?

Of course, Kayne West’s rant last night absolutely annoyed me. There is a time and a place. That wasn’t it.

Nat, that is exactly why I posted that link. It’s nuts. I say, if you’re looking for food to live, take what you can. However, those folks walking out with stereo equipment, plasma TVs, and designer clothing? Looters.
