I’m Bob O’Connor and I approve the breaking of this law!

Oh Bobby O. How I love you.

Not only are you determined that the cabbies speak highly of the city, you’ve decided that some laws are meant to be broken:

He told inspectors to redouble efforts to have abandoned cars towed. Told that many cars sit rusting on properties for which the owner can not be found, and that state law bars the city from seizing such cars, he urged the inspectors to be bold.

“Why don’t we just take a picture of the car, tow it, so if we get sued, we can say, here’s what it’s worth?” Mr. O’Connor asked.

“Don’t be afraid to make a mistake – as long as it’s not a Mercedes Benz. … [If it’s a] $200 car or less, get it out of there. … We’re not going to let these silly rules frustrate our community.”

Now there’s a philosophy we want our leaders to have: “Be brave. Be bold. Break the law. Just make sure you take a picture before you do it.”

Bobby O is funny. There’s being a tough-talking mayor, and then there is breaking State laws.

Not that I disagree with him so much, it’s just very flippant of him I think to go on record that he has encouraged his inspectors to break State laws. He’s going to give Dick Skrinjar, his chief of making shit up, lots of new shit to make up.

State laws prevent vehicle towing? Tell that to Philadelphia. A few years ago the mayor ordered tens of thousands of abandoned cars towed. It’s the only smart thing the current mayor has done.

I agree they should tow the cars. I just think it is hilarious that he’s all on record with … “F*(# the law. Take a picture and tow that shit!” He cracks me up he does.

As much as I don’t think he was the best candidate, I like that fact that he’s able to say ‘The law is stupid/wrong and it’s bad for the City so um.. you know.. pretend it’s not there’

I think I’ll toast him tonight while I’m out drinking

The problem isn’t towing abandoned cars on the streets….it’s the ones that are on peoples properties that cannot be touched.

Forget calling Bettis of Duce to help lose my old Dodge van. I’m towing the old mare to a city street. Problem served. Thanks, Bob.
