PittGirl’s life just got a little better.

If it’s possible, my life just got a little better as I strolled down Sixth Avenue this morning. What’s so great about Sixth Avenue? Other than being a big fat street of boring, Sixth Avenue is now apparently going to be the future home of …

Qdoba!! Coming soon next door to the Reed Smith building!

Ecstatic? More like orgasmic, Burghers! I’m happy; I’m thrilled; I want to grab Luke Ravenstahl and do the dance of joy. Up until now, the only fast Mexican you could get downtown was from Si Senor at the USS Plaza. And that’s only in the summer. There’s Cuzamil and Mexico City, but both of those are sit down establishments that well … kind of suck ass.

You all know how much PittGirl loves her Mexican food, even if it is the Americanized Tex-Mex variety. Did you know that Burritos are NOT a Mexican food? That’s an American creation totally. Want to make a bazillion dollars? Bring the burrito to Mexico.

I have been wishing and wishing for a Mexican fast food establishment in downtown forever, and yes, I really would have preferred it be a Baja Fresh because I find Baja Fresh to be about 6,536,246 times better than Qdoba. However, 6,536,246 times worse than Baja Fresh, is still pretty tasty.

And it’s close. Within walking distance from me. Yee-hah! I hope I don’t get fat from this.

I guess I’ll just have a personal rule that I only go on cloudy days. We don’t have too many of those here in the Burgh do we?

You can actually get Si Senor all year in the Steel Building – they’re located in the tunnel that goes to Mellon. However, their quality has gone into the toilet from earlier days, IMO.

Baja Fresh pulled out of all its locations around here (I agree it’s ookabillion times better than Qdoba). Apparently Wendy’s (its parent company) is losing beaucoup $$ on it.

mandakay – I agree with you. Baja Fresh is great, but I must say Chipotle rocks. But when faced with Qdoba or Qdoba, I’ll take Qdoba.

Moe’s is pretty good, too. My personal favorite is “The Homewrecker” burrito. There’s one in Robinson and Cranberry and they are supposed to be opening a 3rd, but not sure where yet.

You should check out Mendoza Express, at the corner of Mansfield Avenue and Noblestown Road in Green Tree. It’s not a chain, and deserves a lot of points for authenticity.
