The kids of the Burgh are all about bloody death.

The Pirates announced today that those cutie pie little kiddies of the Burgh have come up with the name for the new Pirate mascot.
Meet Captain Jolly Roger:

I don’t know about you, but when I look at him, the first thing to pop into my head is, “My goodness. That is certainly a jolly fellow!”
The Jolly Roger is the name of the flag often flown by pirates:
The flags were meant to strike mortal terror in the hearts of the pirate’s intended victims. They often featured skeletons, daggers, cuttlasses, or bleeding hearts on white, red, or black fields.
Quite a powerful thing to be associated with our powerless Buccos.
And quite obviously, the kids of the Burgh are all about bloody death.

It may not be that the kiddies are all about bloody death…although if you’ve witnessed the kiddies imaginations these days, you would have to go with bloody death, but there is also the strong possibility that they have already learned the art of sarcasm.

He reminds me of Kris Kringle from the 60’s era Rankin-Bass production “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.”

Specifically, he looks like the shot in the upper left corner, where Kris Kringle grew a beard, only a little more evil. Ok, a LOT more evil.
