Ouch!

Reader Diane K commented and pointed me to this picture and asked, “Is that Ben’s nose? Being jammed into his forehead?”

Ouch! Look at that thing. First of all imagine having your nose hit that hard that it actually pushed your nose to your eyebrows … painful. Now imagine having your nose hit that hard AFTER you broke the damn thing and had it rebuilt. I don’t think Ben was unconscious when he lay on the field on his stomach. I think he was just lying there locating his nose, making sure it was still attached, and repositioning it where it was supposed to go so that he didn’t stand up and cause the immediate tossing of cookies because his nose was between his eyebrows.

Also, this picture makes a LOT more sense now.

This wasn’t a head injury, this was a ripping off of the nose and placing it on the forehead injury.

OUCH!

If this run of bad luck doesn’t stop soon, what with the accident, the surgery, the thumb and now the nose/head, Ben’s going to have to retire at 25 if he wants to live to see 50.

Actually, look a bit closer. A bit of an optical illusion. What you see is his chinstrap being pushed up under his nose, and the helmet has come off his head a bit…no doubt painful, but not as bad as the nose to the forehead.

Think of the force behind that! Even a plastic chin strap that brings your nose parallel to your eyebrows has GOT to hurt. That is basically the chin strap being stopped by his nose from having his helmet go flying off!

Joey, I see your point, but dude, you have to see this full page size on the front of the Atlanta paper sports section. This is one painful “optical illusion”.

Isn’t that how you kill a guy in some martial arts? By jamming their ‘nasal bone protrusion’ (sorry it’s been a long time since Anatomy at Gateway High) into their BRAIN?????

How bad is the luck this year?

    Ben’s dad had surgery.

I hope his mom and sister are careful. And the dogs and cats.

    Good grief!
