Stretch. Then Wii.

Please, please, please do yourself a favor and go here to watch a special KDKA report on the Wii and the physical exertion that one may expend in playing certain games. Then do your best to not destroy your keyboard with spit-taked coffee as you watch a demonstration on how to stretch your muscles before actually using a Wii.
God.

I’ve taught exercise physiology and coached fellow diabetics. I’ve done 3 marathons myself. Overuse syndrome is a problem for people who are getting back into physical activity.
I’d argue that stretching before exercise is bad. Cold muscles tear, they don’t stretch. Better you begin with a small amount of activity, then stretch.
I hope when you get into your 40s that you’ve kept exercising and don’t get into the overuse syndrome. Even then, if you increase your exercise intensity or frequency too fast, you can still have it hit you.
That the Wii can cause this is one of the best things I’ve heard about the game. Interestingly, I’ve purchased several versions of Dance Dance Revolution for families with PS2 or XBox. It’s a game, but it also gets people exercising.
