Before any arena can be built, Las Vegas needs to first get a team and then work out who will pay for the arena before deciding on a final location.
It’s a long road with Mayor Goodman leading the charge. He says one thing is clear on the journey. “I’m never going to allow this city to be used as leverage.”
The mayor does not want to be used as a pawn to get voters in Pittsburgh to open their wallets to a new arena there.
It’s a nice sentiment, but until an arena deal is reached or definitely NOT reached here in the Burgh, I would say a pawn is exactly what Las Vegas is to the Penguins ownership.
