1. As soon as I saw this:
I said, “Self! Bill Toland wrote this.”
Self was right.
“Ultimately, we think this product may go national,” said Kim Bellard, Highmark’s vice president of e-marketing and consumer relations. He expects other insurers will be interested in using the “intellectual technology,” which Highmark hopes to patent.
“We do expect other people to follow,” he said. “We certainly expect phone calls from other Blues plans. … I would love to get a phone call from AARP.”
I can almost hear Kim’s heavy breathing over this. Honestly, I really don’t think this is going to be as awesome as Highmark thinks it’s going to be.
2. That Job Corps student that was gunned down while being robbed by a gang of kids?
After the robbery, Mr. Collins gave Mr. Donofrio and Mr. Fields $5 each from the money taken off Mr. Bullitt, according to affidavits.
What hope do we have if kids are killing for $5?
3. Mike Tomlin said:
“The process has really been a non-issue,” Tomlin said. “It’s been great. It’s really kind of funny to me that someone would ask a player how they would anticipate getting along with their boss. What other place of business would somebody stick a microphone in somebody’s face and ask them, ‘Do you like your boss?’ The opinions don’t matter in regards to that, not that I take their position for granted. I don’t, but they have a job to do. I have a job to do. Mutual respect is required and along the way, mutual relationships will create nice relationships. That’s just human nature.”
First of all … DRINK!
Second of all … I love Mike Tomlin.
He also awesomely said:
“The ability to stay singularly focused on what’s in front of you is what’s
going to define you in terms of greatness,” Tomlin said. “(Players) get
mentally weak when they look at the big picture. Stay focused on where you are. Appreciate the journey.”
4. Bruce Arians has gone on record that he believes Ed Reed to be a better safety than Troysus.
I’m not so much going to “hit the roof” as much as I’m going to “hit Bruce Arians.”
(h/t Toni, Charlie, and somebody else I think I missed)
