1. Today is election day. ABC News has a nice article that sort of goes through Lukey’s troubles. Best line:
The professor cites weather conditions, Democratic fatigue and the Monday night Steelers-Ravens game all as factors that could come into play affecting voter turnout today.
Hah. Only in Pittsburgh can we blame the Steelers if we don’t like who gets elected.
2. This is not surprising:
The franchise was named the strongest team brand in its local market compared with scores of other professional sports teams across the country in a new consumer survey, the 2007 Turnkey Team Brand Index.
The Steelers ranked first among 122 team brands in the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball in home-market strength.
“The Steelers are the model brand for a team,” Turnkey’s president and chief executive, Len Perna, said in a statement. “Down through their history, ownership, players, coaches, stadium and style match the hard-nosed work ethic of their city.”
3. Benny is up for Player of the Week. And he so deserves it.
And boy, did they pick the fuggest, grossest, slimiest picture of him they could find, or what?

Thanks for including the link to vote for Big Ben. Not his best photo. Almost as good as Jeff Reed’s!

I was momentarily puzzled by the second item in the Dump Truck apparel collection so I jumped to the site. It is the “dump truck classic thong.” There is now such a thing as a “classic” thong? This is perplexing. I mean, it’s not as if there is much room for variation. Perhaps they mean this is the same manner of thong worn by Sophocles and Euripides, which might explain why they wrote painful tragedies. Whom the Gods would destroy, they first make uncomfortable.

That’s Ben’s team photo from 2006, pre-faceplant on a New Yorker when he was still rocking the long hair.
Re: Jeff Reed’s photo–do you wonder if when he walked into the studio the photographer took one look at his hair and just busted out laughing?

The thong is troublesome.

It’s really a good thing the thong was made in the USA. If it had been made in–oh, say China–that would be just plain tacky.
Is it a Barry University original?
