A brief message from the McMutries.

I have been asked to share with you:
“Please don’t panic about what you may be hearing on the media about numbers of BRESMA orphans who have left Haiti. You will know the accurate numbers as soon as we are permitted to say.”
Say it with me? I hope to share good news soon.
Statement from the McMutrie Family
I have just heard from the McMutrie family, and I was asked to pass this on to you:
“Please stay tuned. Things are progressing, but still very fluid. We will update Virginia with information as soon as it is appropriate, and she will pass it along to you. Thank you so much for all of your support and please keep Jamie, Ali and all of the children in your thoughts.”
And I promise that I will continue doing exactly what the McMutrie family asks me to do.
I hope to share good news soon.
Update:
The family also asks me to remind you that while monetary donations can still be made via the button there on the sidebar, at this time, temporarily, they cannot accept any more donations for the previously requested clothing and supplies at the location on the North Side. We will update you when that changes.
Thanks so much.

Just a note that if you desire, you can send your Haiti support dollars to directly benefit Jamie and Ali’s BRESMA orphanage in Port-au-Prince.
The Prime Minister says that over 100,000 people have died in Port-au-Prince. I am imagining that Jamie and Ali are going to be seeing an influx of orphaned children soon.
Checks can be made payable to “Keystone” and sent to:
Keystone
161 Hazelwood Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15207
It is important that you write “BRESMA Orphanage” as the memo on the check.
Do what you can, friends, for them and for all of Haiti.
(h/t Jonathan Wander and Scarehouse Scott)
They’re okay.

Several of you have asked me if our local sweethearts Jamie and Ali McMutrie are okay in Haiti, where they live in and run several orphanages in Port-au-Prince, the location of a powerful earthquake that injured countless and killed thousands of people yesterday.
I’m happy to tell you that according to their friend and my friend, Jonathan Wander, Jamie, Ali, and all of their children are alive and well and coping.
Jamie and Ali have been in contact with their parents, with Jamie’s husband who lives here in Pittsburgh, and with Jonathan.
Haiti is in chaos right now, and Jamie and Ali have many difficult days ahead, so please keep them and their many children in your thoughts and prayers.
You can follow Jonathan on twitter if you are looking for updates as things move along for them. I’ll also update as developments happen.
These two young ladies are two of the strongest people I have ever met in my life, so they’ve got that going for them as they help their children through this.
