6. “BOXERS!” (submitted by user LStlrsthl)

Council should prepare for lots of comments that say one of these things.

1.  “Response?  There was a response?!”

2.  “DISLIKE!”

3.  “SUCKED!!!!!!”

4. “[golf clap]”

5. “[shakes cute little fist]”

Guess which one is mine.

I for one am about ready to put Snowmageddon behind us and move on.

    Spring anyone?

  3. andrea

Spring, only in the sense that hope springs eternal in certain Pittsburghers’ breasts that we will not be stuck forever with the wannabe-worst city government in US History. (Chicago still wins.)

Lukey is trying soooo hard, what with a feloniously bullying chief of staff and a best bud he pretends not to know after the guy is arrested on the same day the arrested guy is still running his little brother’s campaign for state rep…. Okay, maybe we now beat Chicago. More alcohol please!

The problem is that in order for the public to offer constructive criticism on the response there has to have been an actual responsive action. What I recall from that particular hallucination-inducing part of February was that everyone in charge of the city’s weather defenses looked at the oncoming storm fronts on radar, looked around to see if anybody else was going to do anything and then casually turned off the television and meandered to their home bar where they drank themselves stupid for 14 snowed-in days.

All except Lukey, anyway – he went to somebody else’s bar.

I find it sadly ironic that the banner at the top says “City of Pittsburgh: A Most Livable City” and the page is about getting feedback over failure so massive that a man died as a result.

Guys, the way the snowstorm was handled is a real shame, but let’s all get a grip on reality with regard to our city and its government. If you really think that its the worst in the country, you must not get out much.

I’m not defending Luke or any of these shenanigans, but in my travels for work, I find that Pittsburgh is superior in almost every regard than the cities I visit.

Talk yourselves off the ledge, for crying out loud. Let’s move on.

@ bobo — hey, can you do me a favor, pal? when she comes down to the basement later today with more milk and cookies for you, please tell your mother that her favorite cretin here says, “what up?” thanks! it’s been too long.

    back on topic….where we belong….

if I really felt the need to post a question to that website, I would want to know from lukey whether his snow removal team is going to be ready for the snow showers that we are to receive this evening and tomorrow morning?

and, also, will the EMTs be ready to get out there during these nasty snow showers and respond to each and every call — irrespective of the fact that maybe just maybe a druggie might be making a false 911 call?

I normally wouldn’t honor you with a reply, but you’re an ass clown. Explain to me, exactly, why I should “move on”?

I’m increasingly convinced you are Scott R. Priester.

  17. Bojack
    March 25, 2010 1:37 pm

I’ll explain Scott; it’s because jokers like you ARE the problem!

The city is in receivership, that’s UNACCEPTABLE!
(do you even know what means?)

The city’s infrastucture, which includes vital services such as EMS,
have gone way past, how did you put it, “…a shame,” to the point of heinous, criminal negligence because of the ongoing lack of
    any modicum of credible leadership!

We are blessed to live in times we do where there is absolutely no excuse for ignorance and lack of real-time information yet
thanks in a large part to the dismissive attitudes of the likes of you it not only continues, it’s minimized!

I find your naivete nauseating. You claim to travel to other cities on business. What a testament to our society that a preening ignoramus such as you is even employed. (Tho I suspect it’s connected with city govt.) As the case may be, spending 2 weks at a Red Roof Inn in Gary, IN hardly qualifies you to speak about
    other cities.

So, if you can’t find the reasons to demand change for accountability, better governmental leadership, the least you could do is shut up!

@Unsat- I f’ed your mother and she was lousy!

“@Unsat- I f’ed your mother and she was lousy!”

Bojack – honestly, is that stuff really necessary? It seems so pointless to say this but, please, can you refrain from that kind of stuff? It just doesn’t help you make your point.

It’s good that you’re passionate about all of this but that kind of insult only makes people close their ears to everything you have to say – even things that need to be heard.

People, we don’t all need to agree with each other on everything! However, disagreement does not need to lead to personal attacks on each other. I come to this website because I enjoy Virginia’s writing and perspectives about our city, AND all the good work she is able to bring out in so many people. I don’t come here to read comments that have people insulting and swearing at others. Yes, we all have strong opinions on different issues and that is perfectly OK. But just because someone disagrees with your opinion or position on some issue doesn’t give you the right to attack them personally, at least not in my book. We are human beings, each entitled to our own opinions; we are not sheep, all following the same path.

    March 25, 2010 2:33 pm

    So that’s an excuse?

It’s all unacceptable. And, I’m not trying to be rude here, I really am not, but you tend to go from 0 to 800 in nothing flat. After a while it just becomes incredibly grating. I don’t see unsatisfied in every post throwing around insults and typing in all caps as they yell at people. Unfortunately, I see it from you quite a bit.

The point stands: you don’t get anyone to really hear any of the cogent points you might make when you’re muddying them up with ranting and insults. I’m not asking you to stop sharing your opinion, I’m only asking that you stop insulting everyone while you do it.

You’re right, sorry! I should stop having battles of wits with unarmed people.

The point, for me, is that it needn’t be a battle of wits to begin with.

But, you know, from here on, I can always bloop bloop bloop on down past anything with your name on it in the comments.

@SpudMom — re: “I don’t see unsatisfied in every post throwing around insults and typing in all caps as they yell at people.”

you know, normally, I bloop bloop over all that stuff — the unneeded personal attacks, the all caps, the blahblahblah about the $16M and where the hell is it or whatever. but, bobo addressed me directly and in his/her usual “wit”ty way — and, it had been a long, long day — so, I put my response in a format bobo would understand.

really, I’m good people. just ask spoon — he’d vouch for me. right, spoon?

  29. SpudMom
    March 25, 2010 5:44 pm

unsatisfied – we all have bad days and I *completely* understand that. (holy cow, do I.) I was trying to point out to Bojack that he’s like that A LOT and I find I can ignore it for a while and then it just becomes grating. I really don’t have a problem with you.

This was at least the third time I’d asked Bojack if he could take it down a notch and it’s the only time he actually listened – I admit I’m a little shocked.

Like I said, it’s good that he’s passionate about his views but he doesn’t help others hear them when he shoots back a “yo mama” comment to someone he disagrees with.

I realize that you did essentially the same thing but, like I said, you don’t do it all the time. Bojack goes there a lot.

He promises to be a better boy now so we’ll see. ;)
