IKEA Giveaway!

Random thought, remember Glenn Medeiros and that awesome song “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You?”

Me neither.  I’m too cool for that.  [finger guns].

Moving on … remember how much you love IKEA and all the affordable things you can get there?

Remember how much IKEA Pittsburgh rocks and has been a huge supporter of Make Room for Kids?

Well, IKEA Pittsburgh is letting me give away a $50 IKEA gift card to a lucky reader, in honor of the upcoming IKEA Pittsburgh Remodel Celebration taking place on Saturday, April 17 & Sunday, April 18

Full disclosure: I love IKEA.  That’s it.  Nothing else to disclose.  I am not personally getting anything from IKEA for this.  I just love you that much and I love IKEA for their help with Make Room for Kids.

The two-day event features:

  • Enter to win great IKEA favorites!
  • Two-Day Only offers!
  • Tour the all-new Showroom with more than a dozen new room settings including an expanded Bedrooms and Kitchens departments
  • Enjoy FREE Breakfast from 9:30AM-11:00AM both days! You’ll enjoy a generous portion of scrambled eggs, with potatoes and bacon and a cup of coffee – a $1.98 value- FREE!
  • Indulge in FREE Chocolate cake with adult entree purchase starting at 11AM!
  • Bring the whole family and participate in children’s activities throughout the day including an appearance by Mike the Balloon Guy!
  • Meet Tall Cathy from 96.1 KISS fm who will be stopping by from 11AM-1PM on the 17th!

If you’d like to win the gift card from IKEA, all you need to do is leave a comment with your most favorite IKEA item you’ve either purchased or wish to purchase.  If you’ve never been to IKEA, just leave a random comment, and you’ll still be entered.

The reason I hope some of you will comment with your fave IKEA item? Because I am always looking for recommendations.  Recommendations are why I own the awesome blue IKEA kitchen scissors, their fantastic chip bag clips, the big glass jar I keep my dogs’ treats in, their stacking drinking glasses, and their kids’ colorful plastic cups, bowls, and eating utensils.  In addition, my daughter’s room is done in this. And you can bet as soon as I get the money together for it, I’ll be redoing my outdated kitchen (seriously, if you saw my kitchen … just ask my sisters) entirely in IKEA because I once saw a kitchen storage cabinet there that was so awesome, my sisters had to stop me from longingly pressing my bosom up to it.

You have until noon tomorrow to get your comment in, one comment per valid email address, at which time, I’ll let random.org pick a winning comment number.  If your comment goes into spam, don’t worry.  I’ll periodically check it and get it out.  Feel free to email me if you’d like me to be quicker about it.

Good luck!

Although both my home and work offices are decorated with Ikea desks, I lean more towards the art deco stuff. Sadly, my wife will never agree on my decorating preferences.

Since I’m still in college and am moving in/out of a place every 9 months, I don’t own as much stuff as I would like from IKEA (which is basically everything… ask MY sister). My bedding (which is appropriately RIGHT next to me) in my dorm is from IKEA. My sister’s bedroom furniture (except for her bed frame & mattress) are from IKEA…I helped her pick it all out. And it all looks great.

Even as an Interior Design major, I have visions of my first place being decked out in IKEA… everywhere. There might be a few things that aren’t manufactured by those splendiferous Scandinavians, but the ratio’s going to be about 1: 1348947534987534 because I just love that place so much.

I bought this (i dont know how to explain it) christmas light set that hangs from my ceiling, but around the lights is fabric. I get compliments on it all the time. And it actually works well when watching a movie with the lights out. It gives enough light behind my hdtv, so you dont get eye strain.

Most of our house was built from IKEA. Love the heart shaped ice cube trays, juice glasses and the glass jars

Love the flexible cutting boards we got there. They are nice and heavy duty. Also love the paper wall lanterns we got with the attached dimmer. Sadly they don’t carry them anymore. :o(

I never bought anything from IKEA. I know…gasp. But a few months ago I was in there with my husband and he had to drag me out kicking and screaming.

I love my BEDDINGE HÅVET sleeper. It’s great for my folks when they come to visit, and, better, it has different types of mattresses, so I can appease my folks with a hard, firm mattress, and have a softer one tucked away for other guests.

Lingonberry Jelly. The kid’s tent that we picked up for $4.99 last time we were there is pretty sweet too. Our 14-month old loves it but daddy loves some lingonberry jelly over home-made swedish meatballs.

We have a bedroom with an entire wall of PAX wardrobe storage – this is great and roomy. Also anything LEKSVIK – we have the coffee table with the cubbies/baskets, TV stand, and several side tables – stuff is cheap but when poeple see it they think it is PB. And you can’t beat IKEA for baskets – we have a ton and I have used them for gift baskets and they are always well received!

IKEA is heaven for us “always need to be organized” people. My favorite is this little drawer insert that holds all of my jewelry in separate little homes for each. Thank you IKEA.

I bought this great orange sari-type fabric from IKEA and made curtains for my daughter’s room. When we sold the house the buyer insisted we leave the curtains. They were that FABULOUS!

We have so many great IKEA items, it’s hard to pick just one – my all wood kitchen chairs that don’t hurt your bum to sit in, the cheap storage cabinets, lamps… but, I honestly think my favorite purchase is their splatter screen for cooking. Partner spatters grease everywhere when cooking and it drove me nuts to clean it up every night (because, in this house, if you cook, you don’t clean). Now, no matter the size of the pot/pan/skillet – BAM! it’s covered!

$2.99 to save a relationship, that’s not a bad deal.

I bought their wooden blinds for my teeny tiny apartment and they literally saved my life through the winter by keeping the draft out. And they really made my apartment feel more like home. And at $20 each…how could I NOT buy them?!
