What the Frick?

Anyone else see this banner ad on the P-G’s site and immediately read EFF THE FRICK?

Anyone? Anyone? Zober?

Also, you don’t want to know how many page reloads I had to do of the Post-Gazette’s website to get this ad back after I accidentally clicked away.

Dear Post-Gazette, you’re welcome for the 30,000 page views today.

I hate when I notice an ad that gets me curious, right as I’m clicking away. Then I can never find it again. You must be a stubborn one… I’ve never had the patience to try long enought to bring it back.

Ha!! I see it and I love it.

Reminds me of something our marketing department came up with about 10 years ago to try and “market” women lawyers — we are women lawyers in Pittsburgh, so they put together the acronym “PITFAT” = Pittsburgh Female Attorneys. Yeah, that’s me…Pittfat.

The Frick people don’t know what “frick” means, but to the people of Pittsburgh’s mills and Johnstown whose collective memories go back to the 1889 flood that Henry Clay Frick, Andrew “BalloonHead” Carnegie et al caused by being cheap ass millionaires and failing to fix the frickin’ dam, Frick is aptly named. nice free museum though.

    Good pick up Ginny. LOL

I am a former Frick staffer and yes, they know what it means (the negative connotation) and they try to tread that line carefully. Funny, I was actually looking for “eff” and not “F”, I just saw it as a logo. Double Yoy!

I was skimming, saw the picture, and got set to comment on the “Eff the Frick” then realized that was the point of the post. I think it’s pretty obvious, really.
