Last night I attended Pittsburgh Magazine’s Best of the Burgh party aboard the Gateway Clipper Majestic.
The Majestic was the site of my junior prom (black dress with lots of lace, black virgin shoes, frizzy hair, glasses, abject hotness) and it brought back a lot of memories of awkwardness.
Also, I hate boats. That whole moving on the water thing is disconcerting.
I met some awesome Burghers last night including the esteemed Tony Norman who was voted the best local writer, Gab Bonesso, who was voted the best local comedian. She did a short set for the guests and told this joke about brushing teeth and writing checks that had me in LITERAL tears. I also met the famed John McIntire, DVE’s Jim Krenn and the ladies from Living Pittsburgh. Oh, and Sean Conboy, too! And bunches of readers too.
One of my most favorite people I met last night is also the next official Smokin’ Hot Burgher, Miss Pennsylvania USA 2010, Gina Cerilli.
Now, I know you’re probably thinking that seems like a pretty standard pick. She’s Miss Pennsylvania. She was in the top 15 in the Miss USA pageant. She’s of course going to be hot.
But let me let you men in on a little secret. When we women talk to incredibly beautiful women, we have a Sincerity Detector not unlike the Bullshit Detector that we activate when we talk to men.
Gina’s sincerity levels are off the charts. She is a genuinely nice Pittsburgh girl who is, against all odds, humble. She brought her mother as her date.
So, meet Gina. We like her, Burghers. We like her a lot.
