Before I tell you the story.

I need to first do this, and I want to do it separately because it is a perfect manifestation of what makes Pittsburgh awesome.

Last night the ScareHouse raised $6,299 for our charities.

That money will be split evenly between Make Room for Kids and Christmas Crazy.

SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. That generosity is what I love about Pittsburgh, and that generosity is going to go a long way in outfitting more of Children’s Hospital with gaming, and in providing Christmas toys for needy children in Pittsburgh.

There are no words that I can pull out of the dictionary and arrange in the proper way that they would be adequate to express my gratefulness to the ScareHouse, and to the owners of the ScareHouse, Scott and Barb Simmons and Wayne Simmons for their incredible generosity.

They’re all the next Awesome Burghers and their crowns are in the mail and by “crowns” I mean virtual hugs from all the  children who will enjoy the gaming and toys purchased with this gift.
