Ticket Giveaway

UPDATE:  The winning comment # was 99 belonging to reader Rachel. She has been notified.

Good Monday morning!

Yes, I’m aware that’s an oxymoron, especially in the dead of winter, but I’m nothing if not dedicated to expected social courtesies.

So, good freaking Monday morning, Burghers.

Let’s start this good Monday morning off with a giveaway, shall we?

What: Two tickets to the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh’s production of Sweeney Todd.  Official language: “Perhaps the most widely-acclaimed of the works of Stephen Sondheim, performances will be presented in a semi-staged version using the levels and nooks and crannies that abound in the Hazlett Theater. The choral writing in this seminal work ranges from Greek chorus commentary to full-blown chaos and terror. The characters bring this dark comedy to life, and the setting will be perfect to show off the Bach Choir soloists and ensemble.”

The Bach Choir should do a singing flash mob somewhere in Pittsburgh, don’t you think?

When: You choose which show you want to see: Saturday, January 15 – 8:00pm  or Sunday, January 16 – 4:00pm

Where: New Hazlett Theater on the North Side. Love this theater. So intimate. It’s where David Conrad staged Burn This and took his clothes off and I got to see him in his underwear.

I’m sorry. I need a minute.

That was a good day.

Tickets: Purchased from here are $25 each, so this giveaway is valued at $50.

Enter: Just leave a comment. One comment per valid email address and so you have something to say, tell me, because it’s driving me crazy, is it Steeler Nation or Steelers Nation?

Do NOT tell me which one is grammatically correct, because for instance, the plural form of tiger is tigers, but if you were in the jungle, you might whisper to your companion, “Be on your guard. We’re entering tiger territory.” See?

Just tell me what you call the unofficial Steelers fan base.

Wikipedia says Steeler Nation. I say Steeler Nation. The Post-Gazette says Steelers Nation. I asked on Twitter and while the majority said Steeler Nation, there were a good number that said Steelers Nation.

Now I’m confused.

What do you think?

You have until 12:00 noon tomorrow to comment at which time I’ll pick a winner via Random.org.

Good luck and good Monday morning.

I see why you say Steeler nation, but I like Steelers nation better. But we are Steelers fans all the same, no?

If you say Steeler, wouldn’t you technically be saying you’re only a fan of one Steeler? By saying Steelers you’re referring to the whole team?

I don’t know. My head hurts.

I agree that it’s “Steeler Nation”, but at the same time it sounds stupid. I also have to add that it really chaps my ass when people say they are going to the Steeler game. Does that mean only one person on the Steelers team is playing in the game?

I gotta go with “Steeler Nation.”

My high school mascot was a bearcat, and we had these ridiculous yard signs that read “Walk proud, you’re in Bearcat Country.” Were it to be plural, it would have to read either “Bearcat’s” or “Bearcats’.”

The other way is a yinzer-ism. We like to add “s” to the end of words it has no business being on…my father does it ALL the time and it drives me nuts. He goes to the Giant Iggles, I work for the Sharps Edge and so on and so forth.

Didn’t read the posts so sorry if I’m repeating, but the Steelers facebook page today says “Steelers Nation”. I would probably say it sounds better as Steeler Nation but it doesn’t bother me either way.

I just wanted to say 2 things:

    1. I call it SteelerNation.
    2. I am a fan of the Official Pittsburgh Steelers on Facebook and THEY say SteelersNation. Their most recent FB post says (and I copy & paste):

“SteelersNation, if your coming a long way for the game this weekend or have a great story to tell about your trip in this weekend for the Ravens game, we want to know! Maybe you live in Raven country and your getting out, or your flying in from the West Coast with your entire family. We want to hear your story.”
