This is my 3,000th post as a blogger for The Burgh Blog/That’s Church.

And with a tip of my hat to reader Leenyburgh, check this video out of the Pens leaving the ice after yesterday’s amazing win.

First, love Dan Bylsma’s little fist pump.

Second, please watch Malkin punch every single player.

In Soviet Russia … um … arm … punches … you?

I got nothing.

Worst 3,000th post ever!

Also, when Malkin is playing again, can I take over his job as Vice President of Celebratory Arm-Punching?

Can I also be AVP of Celebratory Butt-Slapping?

What’s Mario’s number again?

*in my best Martin Lawrence voice* Dayyy-um, Geno!!! You may be out for the rest of the season, but your teammates still need to use their arms til we win the cup. Just saying!

And I <3 Dan Bylsma. He's such a freaking hottie. It's good he's a family man and all, but let's be real here. I'm not the only one that would totally get on it if given the chance.

I looked at the video twice and I think Flower drew a hall pass on the Geno Stamp of Approval.

I caught a glimpse of Sid, all decked out in a suit, standing on the left side of the hallway. I got to thinking how proud he must be of his teammates. I know it has to hurt that he’s not playing. But look at what that lineup has achieved, albeit still 1 win left to advance to Round 2. We all talk about the lunch pail mentality of the Stillers and how it mimics Pittsburgh folks. Well, how about these Penguins? And a h/t to Tyler Kennedy and the Flower. Have two guys ever stood taller in the face of insurmountable odds?

the pens won key playoff games without lemieux and jagr back in the day and they can and will win without syd.
the non physical play the team was shooting for in the beginning of the season did nothing but hurt them.
now they hit everything and key roll players will be the ones that get it done for them.
just like back in the day with errey and borque.
all the whining is by the new fans that have no idea what really wins hockey games.
    tuff no name defense !
    not european style scorers.

Yeah, Flower got the love pat on the arm as opposed to the arm charlie horse. That’s his glove arm after all!

Congrats on your landmark post, Ginny.

Thanks for providing us with 3000 posts of joy (or outrage at some annoying Burger) :)

OMG – I couldn’t stop laughing at this video and wathcing Malkin – He’s really throwing some hardcore punches – almost knocking his guys off their feet – I had to watch it about 5 times – from the point. LMAO Maybe boxing is in his future

I think the best part is the player with the sandwich in one hand high fiving with the other. And when Bylsma comes back out sans jacket to join the line of high fives before going into the locker room. Good stuff!

I love the look on the Tampa cop’s face who is standing at the rink end of the hallway (beginning of the video). Looks like he wants to cry.

Geno’s stamping that right hand on them like he’s punching out sheet metal on an assembly line.

Congrats on #3000. I’m totally picturing you posed on 2nd base like Roberto after his 3000th.

Congrats Ginny. bluzdude you nailed it.

I like watching Asham and Letang after a win. Asham greets everyone as they leave the ice, with Letang last to leave. They shake hands and give each other a “how do you do” look. Funny stuff.

Not a comment about the Pens, sorry. I just saw a video ad on the HuffPo entertainment page for French’s Mustard, and I would bet a million bucks that the woman in the first 15 sec. of the ad is our very own Virginia Montanez. Uncanny resemblance – if you can find the ad you should check it out..

Congratulations on #3000!!! Enjoyed every single one of them

MY arm hurts from watching Geno’s punches… & I believe that is one area of hockey players where there is little to no padding

I’ve watched this video several times today – I got a kick out of Bylsma mainly because he shows so little emotion when he’s behind the bench. It’s nice to know that he can smile and have a good time!

Also, my husband and I were discussing Malkin just last night, wondering if he was traveling with the team or staying behind. Now we know the answer :) Let’s Go Pens!

And finally, @rickh – Flower & Letang have their own little ‘low 5’ routine that they do when they leave the ice. I love seeing those little personal moments.

No one has noticed that Matt Cooke comes out to greeting the guys eating a sammich, licking his fingers before he congratulates the team…what a great group of guys !

    Congrats to James Neal !

btw- it sucks having the livefyre comment section of the Pens Blog down today…those guys rawk !

@Larry Murfy….????huh???? Non physical play at the beginning of the season ? Did you not follow the Pens through the fall ? The most penalty minutes, most fighting majors in the NHL ?! These guys were brutes all year (Grinding those bitches down every game)exactly Disco’s game plan…grind and dump it in deep and grind some more.

@bluzdude beat me to the Roberto Clemente observation. Ginny and Roberto: two Hall of Famers for sure. Now we have to make sure Ginny sticks around for another 3000.

Didn’t look like Geno did more than just wave at Asham. Maybe he’s the only one who would punch back? Couldn’t have been much padding in the target area, though, or Geno’s knuckles would have bled before he was half-way through the line.

I’m with CrashJK: Pens have been physical all year long. The numbers prove it. Now let’s win a series on home ice for a change!

Can’t they take those skates off before they go back there? It’s going to ruin the floor. I helped pay for that venue and I want it to last for a while.

Congratulations on #3000! I wonder how many words you’ve written?

That video brought a huge smile to my face! Its great to see Dan’s emotions because, as a coach, they’re so stoic on the bench, but I’ve always wondered what they did behind closed doors.

Its great to see Geno and Sid, too. Even if they aren’t on the ice its great to see them cheer on the boys!

    Let’s go Pens!!

Congrats on the big 3-0-0-0, Ginny. Just don’t accept any congrats from Geno, unless you want to lose the use of your arm. You’ll need it to help me slap butts and kidnap Disco Dan. wink wink.

    Congratulations!!!!!!! 3k is BIG :)))

    As for Geno:

Mikey from 96.1 Kiss and I agreed these are illegal hits to the arm and Geno is suspended for one game ;)))

On a serious note: I hope that Max Talbot got really okay out of this scene. It looked bad – the concussion style of bad. There should be nothing like “legal hit to the head”. I second Mario on his fight for this.

Maybe Geno ought to be doing those VW “Punch Dub” commercials… It’s just hilarious that he’s so happy, he’s just punching the crap out of everyone as they come off the ice.
