Just whoa! is what you’re saying.
Welcome to the new and improved That’s Church. It was high time for a fresh look so my butler and I for the first time ever had a professional web designer (Burgher Jennifer Lyker of Inksplash Designs) put together my own custom blog design.
A little tour! Starting at the top.
1. Header bar!
Most everything is the same and I’ve edited the Lexicon and Make Room for Kids pages a bit to reflect recent events. The search bar has been moved up there too. You’ll notice a new tab called “Store.” I think you’ll like that once it’s ready. I’m so excited for it.
It’s been almost seven years and I’ve never really made any money off of this blog. It’s time I start and I hope you’ll understand why I’m doing it. My goal will to be to advertise companies and products that are local and that I love. There will be one banner ad on top and four to six small ads on the left sidebar. If you’re interested in advertising, simply hit me up in the contact area and we’ll chat. The ads that are in there now are ads I donated to companies that have helped me out in various nonprofit ventures such as Ti Kanaval and more. My way of repaying them for their generosity.
The beautiful and talented Rachel Sager edited the old banner a bit to bring us this simpler version, still keeping our woo!-ing penguin in there and our disgruntled asshole pigeon. Rachel rocks.
4. “Posts you Don’t Want to Miss”
Some days I write posts too fast and I worry that by bumping down important posts, you’ll miss them. Therefore I’ll be keeping three posts up there to be sure as many eyes as possible are hitting those posts I either love or think are important. This means you have to scroll down a bit further to get to the first post, but don’t fret. I’m going to make it up to you.
Nothing new here. This template allows me to post slightly larger pictures which is nice for when I take 47 pictures of a packet of Splenda one day.
Commenting is enabled at the top and bottom of each post, to save you from extra scrolling. My God, you lazy asses.
6. I Care About
In the left sidebar is a section called “I Care About” and that is for me to feature nonprofits and nonprofit events. I get so many requests that I have trouble featuring them all. I’ll continue to feature nonprofit events as much as possible, but this just allows me to freely offer publicity to nonprofits I care about. There is no charge for that space and if you have a nonprofit or a nonprofit event you’d like to tell me about to have featured there, you simply have to email me the details and an image or two I can use and I’ll do my best to feature as many as possible. Again, that’s free to nonprofits.
That’s about it! There might be some bugs to work out as we test the site out live, so bear with us. If you notice anything buggy or off that we didn’t notice, be sure to send me an email. Otherwise, I hope you like your new That’s Church home!
If you don’t, take 47 pictures of your angry face and email them to email@example.com.
