Jim Krenn Ticket Giveaway!

It’s been a bit of time since Jim Krenn and the DVE Morning Show parted ways, but he is still very much a part of Pittsburgh.
Just because you don’t hear a voice every morning, doesn’t mean it’s silent. Something something tree falls in the forest, amiright?
Jim has long been a performer and stand-up comedian and he’s returning to those roots with a show he’ll be headlining at the Byham on May 26 called Jim Krenn: aLIVE.
And because I love you, I’ve got two tickets to give away!
What: Two tickets to JIM KRENN “aLIVE”. Jim Krenn and his all-star cast of comedy and music friends present an evening of live entertainment not seen in Pittsburgh before. A blend of video vignettes, live standup comedy, improv and live music performances by house band and acoustic acts. Performances by: Scott Blasey, Mark Eddie, Billy Elmer, Slim Forsythe, Tom Megalis, Frank Nicotero, Rod Schwartz All-Star Band.
When: Saturday, May 26, 2012
Where: The Byham Theater – Pittsburgh
To Enter: To enter, just leave a comment! One comment per valid email address and so you have something to say, tell me who your favorite stand-up comedian is. Whose show will you always try to catch if it’s on Comedy Central? Who do you try to catch when they come to town? And yes, you can choose a deceased comedian provided they did stand-up comedy. I’m guessing I’ll see lots of Mitch Hedberg mentions in the comments.
Mine? Gosh. I love stand-up SO much that it’s hard for me to choose. I am a dork for loving Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall, but I’m also a Chris Rock fan and I seriously love me some John Heffron and Jeff Dunham. But my absolute favorite is hands down Denis Leary. His rants about smoking are deadly hilarious. You have until Friday at noon to enter at which time Random.org will choose the lucky winner.
If you don’t win, you can buy tickets by calling 412-456-6666 or visiting JimKrenn.com or by visiting the Cultural Trust here. The $52.50 level tickets are sold out, but you can still get the $32.50 or $37.50 level. Also, a portion of proceeds will go to benefit Animal Friends.
Good luck!

Eddie Izzard.
I saw him a few years ago and not only was he fantastically funny, but he came outside afterwards in the alleyway and had an impromptu question and answer session with those of us waiting hopefully for an autograph. He didn’t sign any, but he chatted and answered questions for over an hour.

I saw Izzard live years ago, and missed jokes because I was laughing so hard.

Anytime he comes to town, I try to catch Billy Gardell. His roots are here, and he incorporates that into his stand-up comedy really well. I think he got his first Comedy Central hour-long spot last year, and with Mike & Molly being picked up for at least a second season… it’s cool to see a down-to-earth guy like that from Pittsburgh make it big.

I love John Heffron as well, but if I could see Richard Jenning (RIP), that would be awesome. He was fall down on the floor hilarious.

Greg Warren. Dude is flat out hilarious. I’ve seen him a few times at the Improv with some other Pittsburgh notables. Lynne Koplitz is another fave. She’s the total package: good looks and the mouth of a sailor!
