Ugly StupidFace is at it again.

Dear Bob Smizik:

Just a question.

Are you aware that this which you wrote today:

If you take away the interceptions … Roethlisberger had a splendid day.

Is the equivalent of saying, “You know, if you take away the suck … the Buccos are awesome!” or “You know, if you take away the alcohol, that was totally not a DUI”.

Didn’t Bob Smizik hit his expiration date in the Tommy Maddox era anyways?

Other than his choice for VP, the lackluster town hall debate performance, and the outcome of the election, John McCain ran a remarkable campaign.

Hit the nail on the head PittGirl. Smizik has been awful lately, and is as bad as it gets in Burgh sports writing right now. About a month ago I decided that he wasn’t worth my time anymore. I quitted Smizik, cold turkey. . . I think Giant Eagle even sells a Patch now.

SERIOUSLY! Why do they treat Ben like a baby?…wait, I KNOW you’ll answer that later :) Is the ego THAT FRAGILE? Man up and stop defending him! He didn’t practice, he stunk because of it, he should do better next time…was that so hard????

If you take away the cherry-picked stats, the flawed logic and the blatant lack of objectivity, it really is a splendid column.

I enjoy reading Smizik’s column. I’ve been following his work for over 20 years, and he’s never let me down. It takes a lot of effort to get it wrong almost every time, yet still stay employed. I’m sure he’s really popular with the rest of the writers at the PG, he makes everyone else’s work look better.

Smizik says: “Beyond the interceptions, he outperformed the great Peyton Manning”

    Manning: 21/40, 240, 3 TD, 0 INT
    Roethlisberger: 30/42, 284, 0 TD, 3 INT

There are way too many Big Ben apologists in the local media…everyone is so protective of him…I just don’t get it.

  18. toni
    November 10, 2008 12:33 pm

No doubt he phrased that poorly but his overall assessment was that you can’t sit a franchise QB….and I agree with that.

can someone explain how we have not had a 100-yard rushing performance in, what, the past 5 or 6 games?

that’s ben’s fault, too — along with the economy, mcpalin losing, reality shows and male-pattern baldness.

  20. unsatisfied
    November 10, 2008 12:45 pm

though, I do have to wonder if sitting ben this coming sun might not be a bad thing — to let him heal up a bit.

if we’re going to make it to the playoffs (yes, it’s still possible, you fatalists out here), we’re going to need him.

Smizik must have been hittin the ol’ chronic with Smoketonio.

BUT if he would have connected with the last play of the game all would have been right with the world Im guessing. Dont look at me, I think he should have sat to heal.

Dude needs to sit to heal, agreed Dan (Not Onarato).

I don’t know if it’s the coaches, Ben or a stupid combo, but he has no velocity on his passes and by the 4th quarter you could see he was in obvious pain and the arm was killing him. It was ridic for him to be playing. I know you are tough Ben, but sit out, you’re hurting the team! However, my internal battle rages on, the coaches should sit him to heal! No player will pull themselves out of a game, even with an arm or leg falling off.

Ben certainly made mistakes, but geez, get the ball in the end zone from the 3 yard line!!!! O-line is BAD. I think Ben is familiar w/ each blade of grass he’s been on that field so many times. Likely has pet names for each piece at this point.

Hey retiredguy…I’m sure there is a forum for bitter right-wingers who think that ACORN “stole” the election. Can’t we not talk about politics here, and just bash Big Ben and Smizik instead?

Bozo the Columnist hasn’t written anything of relevance for at least a decade now. His “The World Series is dead” column on Sunday was laughable, especially since the WS finished nearly two weeks ago. Way to be relevant, Bob!

You’re right. There is a forum for it. The left wingers no longer needed it so the right wingers took over the left winger’s “George Bush stole the 2000 election” forum.

I don’t even know what to say about that game. Ben just isn’t all there right now. No shame in that. But if he was horrible in the Giants game 4INTS. The defense picked him up…and they only lost by a td. He wasn’t lighting anything on fire in Washington. And now this game. Kinda selfish of him to play if he is still hurt and can’t get quality reps in practice. Love my Steelers, but Ben’s a baby. Sit and heal and let the team handle it until you are better.
